Position Summary
As a Material Planner, you will be the hands-on owner of Antora's material planning function — responsible for keeping MRP signals clean, maintaining planning parameters, translating demand into a reliable supply plan, and ensuring material readiness across production, R&D, and service. This is a planning-first role (roughly 80–90% planning, 10–20% buying support): you will own the MRP engine day-to-day, drive continuous improvement in planning processes and system capabilities, and partner closely with Production, Warehouse, Engineering, Procurement, and Supply Chain Management to keep thermal-battery builds moving. You will report to the Material Planning Manager.
Roles & Responsibilities
MRP Execution & Planning Ownership
- Own daily MRP execution in NetSuite — action exception messages, review Clear-to-Build (CTB) status, drive PO coverage and reschedule signals, and keep the planning horizon actionable.
- Maintain and govern MRP planning parameters (lead times, safety stock, min/max, reorder points, lot sizes, UoM, planner/buyer codes, part ownership) with clear rationale and documented changes.
- Investigate inaccurate PO suggestions, false shortages, or unexpected planning signals; identify root causes (data, parameter, BOM, timing, or supplier) and implement corrections to prevent recurrence.
- Perform manual CTB analysis for critical assemblies (e.g., Block, GR1, HX) and long-lead components; escalate risks with clear recovery options.
Ad-hoc Shortage Response
- Partner as a planning-side responder to material shortages impacting production and testing — determine whether the root cause is system, physical, or supplier-driven, and drive containment and recovery plans.
- Coordinate with Production, Warehouse, Engineering, and Procurement to confirm root cause and define immediate workarounds (alternate parts, expedites, kitting adjustments).
- Provide clear, timely updates on ETAs, recovery actions, and residual risks; align stakeholders on next steps.
- Monitor critical shipments and long-lead items; maintain visibility into supply risk and drive proactive mitigation.
System, Project & Continuous Improvement
- Bring an AI/automation mindset to repetitive planning work — identify opportunities to eliminate manual toil through tools, scripts, or workflow automation.
- Build and maintain planning reports and dashboards (Hex or equivalent BI) to make supply/demand, CTB, and inventory health visible and actionable.
- Support material forecast and capacity planning; align supply commitments with demand signals from Production, R&D, and Project Sites.
- Place POs and support day-to-day buying execution as a backup to the buying team, particularly for parts within your planning scope.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years in material planning, production planning, or a similar planning-focused role in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience owning MRP execution and maintaining planning parameters (safety stock, lead time, min/max, lot sizing) — not just consuming MRP output.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve planning signal issues (false shortages, mis-scheduled POs, BOM/parameter data problems).
- Strong analytical orientation — comfortable working with data in Excel, SQL, or BI tools to diagnose problems and inform decisions.
- Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in San Jose, CA.
- Proven ability to multitask, handle ad-hoc requests, and prioritize effectively in a dynamic, high-mix environment.
- Growth-oriented — eager to learn new tools, share knowledge, and iterate on processes.
- Clear communicator — able to translate data into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Additional Qualifications Desired
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite MRP (or similar integrated ERP).
- Experience planning for hardware/discrete manufacturing environments with high-mix, ramping production.
- Familiarity with NPI/ECO workflows and their material planning implications (BOM changes, phase-in/phase-out, obsolescence).
- Experience in a startup or similarly fast-paced environment where work may be new, ambiguous, and evolving.
- Experience with AI tools for supply chain workflows (e.g., automating data pulls, exception triage, or reporting).
- Some hands-on buying/procurement experience (PO placement, supplier follow-up) as a complement to planning depth.
