Role Overview

We are seeking a technician to support our gasification project in San Bernardino, CA. Our gasification test stand will produce the ‘syngas’ from a biomass source and power our turbine system that produces electricity. You will be working closely with engineering to help configure the system for testing operations. Work will include tube bending, flaring, torque tools, general hand tools, fluid panel assembly, structural assembly, and other responsibilities as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ground system technician support, which involves installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial tank farm equipment such as pumps, tanks, valves, and plumbing related to the high-pressure and low-pressure nitrogen, oxygen, CO2 and methane gas/liquid ground infrastructure, and other aspects of the site facilities
  • Understand and supply industrial packaged gases to production and test consumers, be knowledgeable about pressurized components, and provide end-users insight on how to properly and safely operate pressurized test systems
  • Assist with material extrusion and forming machinery assembly, operation, and maintenance.
  • Operate and maintain large, complicated facility gas hardware, high-pressure systems and pumps, and other ancillary pressure equipment, including pneumatic systems ranging from vacuum to 20,000psi MEOP
  • Collaborate with design/build engineers to understand systems, help influence and execute a preventative maintenance plan, and ensure system changes are approved and documented
  • Make repairs and additions to pre-existing piping infrastructure, troubleshoot and fix faulty regulators, valves, gauges, and gauges throughout campus
  • Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, or certifications as required
  • Follow all necessary regulations and appropriate Arbor procedures, including quality policies, safety policies, OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, NFPA, ASME, NEC, etc. standards

Requirements

  • Positive attitude and able to work well on a team
  • Able to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Able to stay organized with strong attention to detail
  • Able to read mechanical and engineering drawings and interpret tolerances (including GD&T)
  • Able to read and interpret fluid or electrical schematics
  • Skilled with mechanical hand tools
  • Knowledge/experience with AN, MS, MP, and Swagelok fluid connections
  • Knowledge/experience with cryogenic systems (gaseous and liquid)
  • Knowledge/experience working with electrical components and systems
  • Proficient computer skills; comfortable with using email and the Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to work at elevated heights occasionally (scissor lifts and articulated boom lifts)
  • Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 30 lbs. unassisted
  • Able to work in outdoor environments as needed
  • Ability to work all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends when needed
  • Willing to travel for short trips as needed, up to 10% travel

Base Pay: $30.00 - 40.00 USD/hour. The base pay is subject to the applicant's skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
