About Mitiga

Climate change is creating unprecedented uncertainty for businesses, governments, and communities worldwide.

At Mitiga, we help organizations understand and manage climate risk through science, technology, and advanced risk modelling. Born from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, we combine cutting-edge climate science with powerful computational capabilities to transform complex climate data into actionable business insights.

Our mission is simple: help build a more resilient future.

The Role

We're looking for a Risk Modeller to join our Science team and help shape the next generation of climate risk solutions for the energy sector.

In this role, you'll develop quantitative methodologies that translate climate hazards into meaningful business and financial impacts. You'll work closely with scientists, engineers, product teams, and clients to build robust risk models that support decision-making in an increasingly uncertain climate.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, working with uncertainty, and turning scientific insights into real-world applications.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and enhance risk modelling methodologies for our energy climate risk products.
  • Translate climate data into actionable business and financial risk metrics.
  • Design and validate probabilistic and statistical models.
  • Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to operationalize methodologies into scalable solutions.
  • Contribute to research and innovation initiatives related to climate and energy risk.
  • Engage with clients and partners to understand industry challenges and support product adoption.
  • Help evolve our energy risk offering and contribute to broader climate risk projects across the company.

What We're Looking For

  • Master's degree or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of experience in risk modelling, quantitative analysis, or related disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical modelling, uncertainty analysis, and probabilistic methods.
  • Experience working with Python, R, or similar analytical tools.
  • Understanding of the energy sector, particularly renewable energy, asset risk, portfolio management, or financial impacts.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high degree of autonomy.

Why Join Mitiga?

At Mitiga, you'll work on one of the most important challenges of our time alongside a team of scientists, engineers, and climate experts.

We offer:

  • Flexible hybrid working
  • Unlimited personal time off
  • Half-day Fridays throughout the year
  • Four-day work weeks during summer
  • Structured feedback and mentorship programs
  • A dog-friendly office
  • Opportunities to work on cutting-edge climate risk solutions with global impact

Diversity & Inclusion

We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences.

This version is much more aligned with how modern climate-tech and science companies present roles on their websites. It focuses on impact, mission, and outcomes, while removing some of the internal-process wording that candidates generally don't care about. It will likely attract stronger applicants than the original draft. Based on the uploaded JD, I also removed a few repetitive points and tightened the requirements section.
