We are hiring an electrical engineer who will report directly to the CEO. You will be responsible for low-voltage systems and developing controls and automation for direct air capture systems and associated test systems. Control engineers develop and integrate physical hardware including data acquisition systems, various sensors, PLCs, wire harnesses, and PCBs. You should be familiar with sensors, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, actuators, PLCs, and more. You will oversee all aspects of your projects including initial requirements gathering, feasibility studies, full system design, purchasing and procurement, finances, scheduling, manufacturing, contractor management, installation, and activation. Technical problems we are working on: High-efficiency, low-cost heat transfer systems; Parameterized experimental design and test system design for advanced chemical sorbent characterization and materials development; Design of a high-reliability, low-pressure, variable-purity gas capture system; Experimental design for quantification of CO2 mineralization and sequestration under elevated pressures and temperatures. Responsibilities: Design and develop electrical systems for direct air capture and associated test systems; Design and spec electrical and control hardware (sensors, DAQ systems, control systems, actuators, PLCs, PCBs, etc.); Design and implement data acquisition and control systems; Provide technical support to mechanical and scientific staff for execution of tests; Analyze test data to understand performance and optimize; Assist in development of testing protocols; Interface with vendors and external parties. Requirements: Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to work in dynamic environments; Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related discipline; 1+ years of experience with system-level design, integration, or testing of electro-mechanical systems/components (academic projects, internships, and professional experience qualify); Experience working on technically complex systems from comparable industries like aerospace, automotive, or chemical engineering; Experience designing for manufacturing/assembly; Comfortable working on a small team; Requirements gathering and documentation for technically complex projects. Benefits: Salary $105,000–$135,000; equity; covered health, dental and vision; 401(k) with employer matching; unlimited PTO (expectation of three weeks). Not currently able to sponsor a visa; primarily based in Los Angeles, CA, but open to applications from other locations.
