Crusoe's mission is to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. We’re crafting the engine that powers a world where people can create ambitiously with AI — without sacrificing scale, speed, or sustainability.

Be a part of the AI revolution with sustainable technology at Crusoe. Here, you'll drive meaningful innovation, make a tangible impact, and join a team that’s setting the pace for responsible, transformative cloud infrastructure.

About This Role:

Join Crusoe Energy as a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer / Supervisor and lead the transformation of complex customer requirements into production ready 3D models and detailed drawings for modular integrated electronics buildings, and standalone power distribution equipment. This pivotal working leadership role involves the creation and release of precise fabrication drawings alongside expert technical leadership, mentorship, and strategic guidance throughout the entire product development lifecycle. You will be instrumental in ensuring our designs are functional, and compliant with all regulatory and commercial codes, driving a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, seasoned engineer with expert-level 3D modeling skills, a comprehensive understanding of mechanical design related to modular buildings and power distribution equipment, and a demonstrated ability to successfully lead engineering teams and initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a full-time position.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Lead Advanced Mechanical Design Projects: Lead and direct the design of modular integrated buildings, low voltage switchboards, medium voltage switchgear, and other critical power distribution equipment; oversee the development of comprehensive specification sheets, bills of materials, detailed assembly instructions, and other crucial manufacturing documents, setting high standards for accuracy and completeness across the team.

  • Strategic Code Compliance and Standards Integration: Champion and ensure strict compliance of all product designs with complicated regulatory requirements, commercial codes, customer specifications, engineering standards, and company practices and procedures, providing authoritative guidance to the engineering team.

  • Detailed Drawings and Technical Documents: Accept responsibility for the accurate and timely delivery of shop drawings, product submittals, operation and maintenance manuals, and as-built drawings, ensuring precision and traceability across all projects.

  • Design Reviews and Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough model reviews and drawing checks as an integral part of the engineering design release process, serving as a subject matter expert (SME) for quality assurance and design approval.

  • Strategic Cost Reduction and Manufacturing Efficiency: Initiate, lead, and direct Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Excellence (DFx) reviews, focusing on cost reduction strategies and enhancing overall manufacturing efficiency across multiple product lines and projects.

  • Engineering Change Operations: Independently lead and manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) as a key part of product release and ongoing lifecycle management, identifying broad impacts, coordinating cross-functional changes, and ensuring smooth implementation.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Strategic Partnerships: Lead and direct strategic collaboration initiatives with Sales, Project Management, Purchasing, and Manufacturing teams to support customer inquiries, resolve problems, and foster creative, high-value solutions for both the customer and the organization.

  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Proactively identify, propose, and implement improvements to design procedures, processes, and methodologies, driving innovation, enhancing safety, quality, and overall efficiency across the engineering department and influencing broader operational improvements.

  • Technical Mentorship and Team Development: Provide expert technical guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to mechanical design engineers, fostering a high-performing team and nurturing future leaders.

  • Resource and Project Portfolio Management: Oversee the allocation of engineering resources across multiple projects, manage project priorities and timelines, and ensure the successful delivery of a portfolio of complex mechanical design projects.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.

  • Expert 3D Modeling Proficiency: Expert proficiency with 3D modeling software, specifically SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM, demonstrating mastery of advanced techniques for complex design, assembly, and document management.

  • Extensive Structural Design Experience: Proven 7+ years of experience in advanced mechanical design, ideally engineered to order power distribution equipment like modular integrated buildings, switchboards, and switchgear, or related products.

  • Comprehensive Code Expertise and Application: Expert-level knowledge of a wide range of building codes, energy codes, UL listings, and their respective compliance checks, with the ability to interpret, apply, and guide others in regulatory environments.

  • Expert Materials and Fabrication Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of metals and materials commonly used for fabrication, including their properties, limitations, manufacturing methods, and application in mechanical designs.

  • Exceptional Analytical and Strategic Decision-Making: Exceptional analytical ability and strategic decision-making skills to tackle complex, multi-faceted design challenges, provide authoritative technical direction, and contribute to long-term engineering strategy. Proven track record of solving engineering problems utilizing a first principles approach to design and analysis.

  • Meticulous Attention to Detail and Quality: Unwavering commitment to detail, ensuring precision in design, analysis, and documentation, and driving a detail oriented culture of quality within the team.

  • Leadership and Team Development: Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of mechanical design engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.

  • Advanced Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information, negotiate, and influence stakeholders within the organization and with external partners.

  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift, lower, push, and pull merchandise up to 50 lbs, and to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for 8 hours or more daily.

  • Continuous Computer Operation: Requires constant use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back for operating computers and advanced design software.

  • Commitment to Compliance: Willingness to undergo a background check and drug test.

Bonus Points:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar post-graduate engineering degree

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

  • Experience as a SolidWorks PDM Vault Administrator

  • Extensive experience using Material Requirements Planning (ERP/MRP) software, with a track record of optimizing design-to-production workflows at a strategic level.

  • Demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding engineering programs.

  • Positive track record of seeing complicated, long-term projects through to completion with patience, persistence, and strategic oversight.

  • A strong drive to identify, create, and continually improve engineering design systems, processes, and methodologies, leading to efficiency gains and technological advancements.

  • Experience in a supervisory or management role for at least 2-3 years.

  • Experience with advanced simulation and analysis software (e.g., FEA/FDM).
