  • Assemble novel electrochemical components and cells.
  • Design experimental test campaigns and write and execute tests plans.
  • Screen materials and cell components to evaluate their performance.
  • Critically analyze, interpret, and communicate test findings to the broader Electra team.
  • Lead project teams and train junior team members.
  • Provide technical insight to other teams and leaders as an electrochemical subject matter expert.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and outside agencies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What we need you to bring to the team:

  • A PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, physics, or related field AND 1 year of relevant experience; a Master’s degree in a related field AND 3 years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience in an experimental role working with electrochemical cells such as fuel cells, electrolyzers, batteries, and/or flow batteries.
  • Fundamental engineering knowledge of electrochemistry, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat & mass transfer, chemical kinetics, and materials.
  • Familiarity with electrochemical characterization techniques including potentiometry, cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, and instrumentation.
  • Experience analyzing experimental data, reaching conclusions, and effectively communicating results.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

What we want you to bring to the team:

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing processes and responsibilities.
  • A safety-first mindset; share potentials risks with others before they result in hazardous outcomes.
  • Experience in statistical analysis and design of experiments, including knowledge of statistical software packages such as JMP or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with general wet chemistries and reactions.
  • Desire to be in a dynamic startup environment.
  • Desire to challenge yourself and take on increasing responsibilities as the company grows.
