Greenhouse is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team!
The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, this position will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, with a particular focus on bank and balance sheet reconciliations, as well as the accurate tracking and reconciliation of partnership revenue. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP, excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a fast-paced SaaS environment.

What you’ll do
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform daily/weekly/monthly bank reconciliations for all company bank accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for various accounts, including but not limited to, accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and deferred revenue. Ensure supporting documentation is complete and accurate.
- Partnership Revenue Management:
- Reconcile partnership revenue on a regular basis, ensuring accurate tracking of revenue share, commissions, and other related agreements.
- Work closely with the business development and sales teams to understand new partnership agreements and their financial implications.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to partnership revenue recognition.
- Assist in the preparation of partnership payout calculations and related reporting.
- Accounts Receivable/Payable Support: Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as needed, including processing invoices, applying payments, and resolving vendor/customer inquiries.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including preparing and posting journal entries to ensure proper recording of financial transactions.
- Month-End/Year-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end close processes by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and other required documentation.
- Financial Reporting Assistance: Assist in the preparation of various financial reports and schedules for internal and external stakeholders.
- Process Improvement: Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting department.
- Ad-Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by management.

You should have
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a SaaS company or a technology-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Demonstrated experience with bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Experience with revenue recognition, particularly in a subscription or partnership-based model, is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- CPA designation or actively pursuing (nice to have)
- Experience with subscription billing platforms (nice to have)
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems (nice to have)

The national pay range for this role is 63,000- 94,000 CAD. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications. Certain roles may be eligible for additional compensation, including stock option awards, bonuses, and merit increases. Additionally, certain roles have the opportunity to receive sales commissions that are based on the terms of the sales commission plan applicable to the role.
