About The Role:
The Safety and Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that Nevoya’s driver and fleet operations meet all DOT, FMCSA, CHP, and state-level regulatory requirements. This role requires a hands-on executor with extensive experience managing safety and compliance for an active fleet. You will oversee all driver qualification and vehicle files, audits, and reporting processes while driving a culture of safety, accuracy, and accountability across the organization.
What You’ll Do:
Maintain and audit driver qualification files (DQFs) for all active drivers and locations
Oversee drug and alcohol testing programs, including random testing and Clearinghouse management
Review and manage driver pre-hire documentation, background checks, and onboarding compliance
Track CDL, medical card, and MVR renewals to ensure all records remain current
Oversee and review daily vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) for accuracy and completion
Monitor and manage hours-of-service (HOS) and electronic logging device (ELD) compliance
Coordinate vehicle registration, permits, trip permits, and BIT inspection schedules
Handle CHP inspections, citations, and correction processes
Maintain fleet files, insurance documents, and equipment records
Partner with insurance brokers on renewals, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), driver additions or removals, and claims
Manage Workers’ Compensation incident reporting and documentation
Ensure accurate IFTA reporting and fuel card tracking
Develop, track, and maintain spreadsheets and digital systems for compliance reporting and audit readiness
Lead regular safety audits, corrective action plans, and fleet safety training
Collaborate with operations and finance teams to ensure alignment on safety and compliance practices
What We’re Looking For:
7–10 years of experience in fleet safety and DOT compliance management within trucking or logistics
Deep understanding of DOT, FMCSA, and CHP regulations, audit procedures, and documentation standards
Proven success managing compliance programs for large, active fleets across multiple states
Experience with DQFs, vehicle files, DVIRs, ELD platforms (Samsara preferred), and Clearinghouse programs
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for tracking, reporting, and document management
Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
Valid driver’s license with the ability to visit terminals or field sites as needed
Preferred Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Previous IFTA reporting experience
Experience with Samsara or similar fleet management systems
