Location:
Preference for candidates based in Palo Alto, CA or willing to relocate. This role requires frequent travel to deployment sites. Candidates must be willing and able to travel to remote renewable energy locations on short notice for commissioning, troubleshooting, and contractor oversight.

About your role:
As Fleet Operations Manager at Rune, you will lead the deployment, energization, and reliable operation of our modular data centers, RELICs, which are co-located with renewable energy assets.
This is a hands-on, high-responsibility role where you'll ensure RELICs are delivered, commissioned, and consistently available to consume power when and where they should be.
You will coordinate site delivery, oversee commissioning, manage contractors, and collaborate with the internal team to design and execute a scalable, cost-effective operations and maintenance (O&M) strategy aligned with Rune’s gross margin expansion goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Deployment & Commissioning
Coordinate logistics and delivery of RELIC units to solar and wind sites
Lead hands-on commissioning and energization of new deployments
Develop checklists, processes, and SOPs to scale deployments rapidly and repeatably
Interface with power partner staff
Site Reliability & Performance
Own site uptime and reliability; ensure RELICs respond accurately to power availability signals and work with the software team to build internal tools needed to track site reliability and performance
Monitor operational performance and proactively resolve downtime issues
Drive continuous improvement to increase availability and reduce operational overhead
Contractor Oversight & Vendor Management
Identify, vet, and manage contractors for site prep, interconnection, and maintenance, including inventory tracking of spare parts and vendor RMAs
Maintain a reliable bench of third-party service partners across multiple regions
Hold vendors accountable to performance, safety, and budget targets
O&M System Development
Collaborate with Rune’s internal team to build a scalable O&M strategy
Define spare parts inventory, preventive maintenance routines, and response protocols
Design and develop tools to track O&M performances.
Balance reliability with cost to support margin targets across a growing fleet
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain deployment logs, incident reports, and reliability metrics
Report regularly on fleet performance, downtime causes, and cost drivers
Provide field insights to engineering and product teams for continuous improvement
Qualifications
Required: 3+ years experience in bitcoin mining operations and 5+ years of field deployment experience for infrastructure projects
Strong familiarity with ASIC miners, immersion or air-cooled systems, and miner management software (e.g., BraiinsOS+, LuxOS, Vnish, HiveOS)
Proven experience coordinating field deployments and managing contractors
Hands-on experience with power distribution, HVAC, or industrial controls preferred
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Must be comfortable in field environments, including physical work, travel, and irregular hours during commissioning windows
