Role summary:
Our Head of Underwriting (Florida) role offers the chance to shape the future of climate-first insurance by building and leading underwriting excellence from the ground up. You’ll set performance benchmarks, refine guidelines, and harness technology to drive efficiency and strong book performance. As a key partner to leadership, you’ll play a pivotal role in launching new markets and products—making a direct impact on how Stand redefines homeowners insurance.
Core Responsibilities:
Collaborate with leadership to establish performance benchmarks reflecting an effective and efficient underwriting team
Monitor individual and team performance against the established benchmarks, providing ongoing feedback and coaching to drive continuously improve results
Ensure ongoing loss performance of the book of business by working with the team on modifying any underwriting guidelines and working with technology to implement necessary changes
Maintain underwriting documents and resources, including agent training documents, vendor SOPs, formal underwriting guidelines, and other pertinent documents
Collaborate with the Head of New Markets on guidelines and underwriting considerations when launching a new product or state
What We’re Looking For:
Minimum 7+ years of personal lines property experience, with at least 2 years of management experience
Proficiency establishing and managing KPIs and operational service levels, with an eye for eliminating bottlenecks and improving efficiency
Acumen with data vendors and usage in automated underwriting workflows
Demonstrated homeowners market knowledge and acumen, having both standard and high value exposure is a plus
Florida specific experience is strongly preferred

You'll report to the Head of New Markets and work closely with our vendors who support our underwriting and operations functions

Compensation:
The annual base salary range for full-time employees in this position is $150,000 to $175,000 + meaningful Equity Grant.
Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors, including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
