Role overview
As part of UNDO’s growth, these 2 new roles are vital for contributing to our mission and delivering our roadmap. You’ll be spending time in the field and in the lab, at the forefront of our ERW science, collecting, processing and analysing samples.
We are hiring for two positions, and they are initially 4 month contracts as we deliver against some ambitious objectives over the second half of this year.
*Due to the availability of lab equipment, the working days for both of these roles will be Thursday to Monday, rather than Monday to Friday.*
Where you’ll spend your time
- Collecting soil and pore water samples from across our research sites and preparing them for analysis
- Recording, archiving, and managing soil sample collections for analysis
- A variety of laboratory work including the use of an autotitrator to measure pH, EC and alkalinity of both soil and water samples
- The role involves both indoor lab work and physical activity, as well as working outdoors on sites in all weathers
We’d love to see from you
We are looking for someone with a passion for climate change who is keen to use their skills in agricultural or environmental science to make a real-world impact. The ideal candidate will have an energetic, dedicated work ethic, be methodical and organised and have a willingness to learn.
Essential:
- Agricultural or environmental science qualification
- Experience in using a variety of laboratory techniques and equipment
- Valid driver’s licence, reliable transportation and willingness to travel
- Ability to conduct field work independently and unsupervised
- Ability to operate independently, as well as work effectively in a diverse team
Desirable:
- An interest in soil science
- An interest in agronomy
- Experience conducting agricultural or environmental field trials
- Experience with soil sampling
- Experience handling large amounts of data
Working environment
- This role will be spent mostly at our field sites in Scotland, and our lab in Stirling. We do cover mileage for any business-required travel.
- We also have an amazing office in County Hall in central London -- under the London Eye and overlooking the river. There is no requirement for you to visit this office, although it is available if you’d like to.
- We recognise that there is no substitute for in-person time together and try to get the teams together regularly for in-person connection.
