About the Role
At Vaulted, we have an aggressive plan to permit new operating sites and actively engage with communities throughout the process, enabling us to consistently and permanently remove waste and carbon from the environment. As the Community Engagement Associate, you will partner closely with our regional External Affairs Manager(s) to support critical community outreach, events, and stakeholder partnerships, while helping to set the strategy and vision for community engagement at Vaulted’s current and prospective operating sites. Responsibilities are as follows:
- Assist with the execution of Vaulted’s community engagement strategy across existing and new sites, including building stakeholder maps, and gathering information to help identify key partnership opportunities
- Develop essential materials, presentations, and information for proactive, regular communication with consistent messaging for respective community engagement events and partnerships
- Research, identify, and advise on aligned community investments, donations, sponsorships, volunteer activities, and speaking engagements while tracking such activities for target communities
- Support the broader External Affairs team in developing Vaulted’s community engagement strategy and “playbook” to ensure its alignment with Vaulted’s approach to site development, including government affairs and communications
- Execute key events in local communities of current and prospective sites, such as Chamber of Commerce meetings, municipal events, fairs and festivals, professional development events
- Work cross-functionally across Vaulted teams and external consultants, providing project management and organizational support across sites in Vaulted’s development pipeline
- Assist External Affairs team on management of external stakeholders including help coordinating meeting prep, schedules, and calendars.
What You Will Bring
To succeed in this role, and to help advance the company’s mission, the Community Engagement Associate must possess strong communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills. They must also thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with a growing team of ever-changing needs. In addition, we seek a candidate with:
- A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Policy, Marketing, or a related degree or experience
- 1-3 years of direct experience conducting community engagement for industrial projects or direct experience conducting community engagement for a political campaign
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, both internally and externally
- Experience with government affairs (local, state, federal) is a plus, but not required
- An ability to handle high stress triage and prioritization of project tasks
- Strong organizational and management skills, and comfortable coordinating multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience communicating and building trust with stakeholders across diverse viewpoints and community perspectives
- Experience ideating, building, and executing presentation materials including, but not limited to, PowerPoint presentations, briefing documents, marketing materials, and infographics for and commitment to sustainability and the work of climate change mitigation
- Knowledge of carbon removal is helpful, but not necessary.
